چکیده
A preliminary analysis of low-energy e + e − collision data produced via initial state radiation (ISR) has been performed using 22 f b −1 of BABAR data. The selection of data samples corresponding to the µ 7π final states accompanied by the emitted ISR hard photon has been demonstrated. The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the effective collision c.m. energy, and so BABAR ISR data can be compared to the relevant direct e + e − measurements. The resulting distributions are already competitive with DCI and ADONE data in the 1.4-3.0 GeV energy range. In particular, they do not suffer from the relative normal-ization uncertainties observed for certain reactions when results from different experiments are combined. Eventually , such data may be used to measure the energy dependence of R, the ratio of the e + e − → hadrons and e + e − → µ + µ − cross sections, in the low-energy regime where precise measurements will have an impact on the interpretation of the new (g − 2) µ measurements.

Elastic Scattering at Cern Collider Energy and the Geometrical Picture
Recent UA1 and UA4 experimental results for ~p collisions at 540 GeV center of mass energy are analyzed in the geometrical picture. Recent experiments [1 ] at the ~p collider by the o.s5 UA1 and UA4 detectors have revealed interesting features of elastic Op scattering at a center of mass energy of 540 GeV. We wish to discuss these features from the viewpoint of the geometrical picture [2] of hi...
متن کاملHadron-hadron and hadron-nuclei collisions at high energies
In the 1960’s-1980’s high quality secondary beams became available at proton synchrotrons of increasing energies (PS, AGS, IHEP, FNAL, SPS). The secondary charged hadron beams contained the six stable or quasi stable charged particles π, K, p, p. The main experimental lines of research were: i) total hadron–hadron (hh) cross section measurements at high energies (plab > 20 GeV/c); ii) elastic h...
متن کاملM ar 2 00 4 Correlation of high energy photons and charged particles in p + p and d + Au collisions at √
Azimuthal correlations between high energy photons from π decay (pγT < 10.5 GeV) and charged hadrons (p hadron T above a threshold of 2, 3 or 4 GeV/c) have been measured in p+p and d+Au collisions at √ s = 200 GeV. Clear jet-like correlations are observed at ∆φ = 0 and 180 degrees, with peak widths decreasing with increasing p T . Jet 〈jT 〉 and √ 〈k2 T 〉 in d+Au collisions are deduced from the ...
متن کاملM ar 2 00 7 Energy dependence of π ± , p and p̄ transverse momentum spectra for Au + Au collisions at √ s NN = 62 . 4 and 200 GeV
We study the energy dependence of the transverse momentum (pT) spectra for charged pions, protons and anti-protons for Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 62.4 and 200 GeV. Data are presented at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.5) for 0.2 < pT < 12 GeV/c. In the intermediate pT region (2 < pT < 6 GeV/c), the nuclear modification factor is higher at 62.4 GeV than at 200 GeV, while at higher pT (pT > 7 GeV/c) the m...

I N T R O D U C T I O N Reliable prediction of pion yield in hadron-nucleus (hA) collisions is vital in numerous applications, particularly in the planning of future experiments and accelerators. The newest examples include a #+#-coll ider project [1] and neutrino experiments at Fermilab Main Injector [2] and Booster [3]. There are a few models capable of generating pions in pA --, 7r• reaction...
